"I stumbled across your site purely by accident while looking for supplies. I take Black & White photos and tint them. Since I am an amateur, I found your site extremely helpful. I do hope you will take the time to look at some of my work and pass on some of your wisdom my way. I focus on kids in their environment. Candid shots are my favorite but I have been trying to capture a natural pose, if there is such a thing. I have 4 photos all of them are of my children." (Laura Almony)

Children in bath
Closer view of children
Your photo (on the left) looks fun, but could be improved by moving in closer (as on the right). I think the result is really pleasing. Well done!

Closer view of boy
Boy on beach
In your version (on the left), your son seems about to disappear out of the left of the picture. Concentrate more on him (as on the right) and the result looks more satisfying. I've also lightened the picture a bit, so that his face isn't so lost in shadow. Another way around this would have been to use fill-in flash.

Boy in hat
I think this is the least successful of your photos as the boy looks so glum. Unless, of course, this is what you wanted!
Girl tinted
I like the above tinted photograph. It's imaginative and unusual, a sort of dream picture in fact. I had to reproduce it this size to do justice to it, but even so it's only one tenth of the size of the original picture you sent me. Do please send me reasonably sized jpg files. These were xif files that took me for ever to unload and convert!

Of course, as (nearly) always, it might be even better if you moved in closer, excluding most of the tree (as here), especially as it looked slightly more in focus than the girl.
