| "After 20 years I am just getting back into photography and trying different things out. With this Lilly it does show the violet flower as the center of attention......what could I have done to make this a more dramatic photo? Thank you, Ellenetta." |

| In your picture (on the left), the flower you are most interested in is so small that it's almost lost. You could make it more dramatic by coming in much closer (as on the right) so that we can really see it. I've also moved the leaves on the left a bit nearer to it, and given it a clear background on the right to make it stand out more! It's often more interesting not to have your main subject right in the middle of the picture. You really need to spend quite a long time choosing the best possible camera position for a picture like this. |

| "I like this photo....except I think that more of the othe flowers should have been focused on also....what is your opinion? (Ellenetta) |

| This is a pleasing picture but would have been better if, as you suggest, you'd got more of the other flowers in focus. Alternatively, you could have concentrated (as I have done on the right) on the one really sharp flower. I increased the contrast too. You could have achieved a similar effect by waiting for more dramatic lighting. "Hi, I have a few photos that I have snapped, mainly at my school swimming carnival and was wondering if you could give me any feedback on them. Thanks!" (Susan Henry) |

I'm afraid this is the least successful of the photos you sent me. We really need to be able to see the girl's face or the drawing she is doing - or, better still, both! In this picture, unfortunately, we don't even get a clear view of the scene she is drawing. |

This is a very effective off-the-cuff shot that seems to have caught your subjects unawares. The setting is interesting so, for once, I wouldn't move in closer! A good photo. | |||||||||||||||

| Your version (on the left) is a bit of a muddle, not at all helped by the inclusion of someone's arm intruding into the left of the picture. This time, if you move in closer (as on the right), you really do get a better view. The only snag is that the girl's face isn't quite in focus. |

| An amusing and (I would guess) a characteristic picture! There's a fraction more sky above the figures than is really needed - but it's a photo that really works. As it was a swimming gala, it's nice to see a bit of the pool too! | ||||||||||||||||
