"Hello, I'm new to this so tell me what you think." (James Stowers, Orleans, La)

Man in chair
Musician in street
I like both of these pictures very much, as the subjects seem full of character which you have captured very well. They make an interesting contrast too. The central position of the man on the left, surrounded by empty space, makes him seem isolated which, I presume, is what you wanted to suggest.

I like this one even more if you move in a bit closer, as here. This concentrates attention on the singer and contrasts him with the woman on the right who is completely ignoring him! A compelling picture.

The two photos below are more run-of-the-mill. The flower comes out a bit dark against the light background, and the nightscape, although effective, would benefit from some interesting foreground framing or a more dramatic viewpoint. A really successful photo is one that makes a statement about something (like both your photos above). The photos below seem to have rather less to say.

Below are a group of photos sent to me anonymously with no word of explanation!

Lighthouse The lighthouse cuts the picture into two. I think it might have been better to have positioned it to the left as shown below.
The vertical format is better suited to the vertical subject. It was a nice touch to see people (assuming that's what they are!) walking round outside the light. Ideally, someone walking across the bridge (bottom right) would also have added to the interest. Easier said than done, I know!

I've got no idea what this is beyond a stretch of rather uninteresting road! It really is a good idea to include just a few words to explain a picture like this!

Road
Guitar player Unfortunately the emphasis is on the singer's knee! You could show just the top half of the picture, but this would draw more attention to his face - and I'd guess you haven't really caught him at his most animated! Pity too about the white obstruction (music sheet?) on the left - but, presuming the photo was taken during an actual concert, perhaps you did pretty well to get this much!
