| Here's your photo as I received it. It's a very attractive and amusing picture of the baby, even if the expression is a little bit glum! I particularly like the light, carefully arranged, background. But did you really mean the picture to be quite so lacking in contrast? | ||||||||||||||||||

I've increased the contrast here so that you can see the baby more clearly - and I've come in just a bit closer. But can you spot another difference? I've also removed the back left-hand corner of the basket so that it no longer seems to stick out from the child. A very minor but, I think, a useful improvement.

Reply from Srinivas Kotekal: "Thank you for your valuable comments on the baby picture. I would like to share my opinion with you regarding your version. The reason I kept the corner of the basket behind the baby's arm is just have feeling of continuity of the basket edge on which baby is leaning. Without the corner, in my opinion, the baby looks unstable and feels insecure behind. Please comment on my opinion. Thanks again."

I agree that in your original picture the corner of the basket is not really a problem, but when you come in closer, as I did, it becomes a bit more distracting. Above is a straight comparison, showing your preferred version on the left, and mine on the right. My version makes the baby seem bigger and, as you say, more unstable, so produces a more comic result. But it all depends on the effect you want .... "I just bought my AF Minolta Htsi plus, and already taken about 20+ films!! Lots of bad pictures but I have some ones that I think there good enough for you to comment. These were taken in Epcot Center. Hope you like them. And please continue with your great work, giving us tips. Best regards Juan Pablo."

Which of these two versions do you prefer? The one on the left is the one you sent me. In the one on the right, I've moved a bit closer in (as usual!) so as to concentrate attention on the most interesting part of the scene. The result: an even more arresting picture.

Your photo (on the left) seems to show more sky than is needed and it's a pity the horizon comes exactly half way down the picture. It's not very clear just what we are meant to be looking at. In my version (on the right), I've tried to pick out what I presume is the most important part of the scene, but, I'm afraid, the result is still rather confusing. It's a good idea to include foreground framing, but unfortunately the background here is too far way to be seen at all clearly - and it's not helped by being a bit out of focus!
